We don’t have all the answers as parents, but we sure as hell have a lot more than we did as kids.
Our kids teach us the pieces we are missing from when we were kids.
Our kids bring us questions, but sometimes they need to find the answer on their own, with a sibling, cousin, friend, coach, teacher, or mentor. Not always being there is not only okay, it’s reality. Parents CANNOT ALWAYS be there, but they CAN ALWAYS be available.
If your child isn’t talking to you it’s not a lack of trust, it could be that they don’t want to burden burden you.
Another reason they don’t come to you is because for that thing, you’re just not the one to go to. That doesn’t make you a bad parent – it makes you a great one. It shows that they learned how to be the master-craftsman of their life. You taught them that.
Parents don’t have all the answers, never will, and should not ever.
Parents are kids with flaws who had kids that will help them fix those flaws.
If that’s not a parenting curve-ball WTF else would be?
