I told myself to lie to me

“Your mind has the tactical advantage” — David Goggins

That mother fucker is right! As humans our reptile brain is wired to save our asses and our calories. I have to really hold myself the principle of:

I will do what I am telling myself to. It’s not about a feeling – Fuck a feeling, get to work!

What I mean by that is not get to work on something that is miserable, no, get to work on reenergizing yourself. Do something hard for a moment so that you can feel good later.

  • Just take a look.
  • Alright I’m going to skim this.
  • Hmm, wait what was that?

In one of these three stages I have overcome the bullshit that I was avoiding. Just take a look for me today is the same as “okay, I’ll just meet you at the club I’m not staying long.” Both of those turned into a full commitment. With the club… not all nights turned out to be fun mornings, but with the things like this blog or going to the gym, or getting to bed early… never have I ever looked back and said I was unhappy with that decision.

Lie to the part of you that wants to be lazy. Lie and say you can be as lazy as you want, but, lets just take a look first.
